Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Thanks for all your helpful ideas Re: Feb 2010 - now that we know it clashes with "Fasching" (which we didnt know even existed) we are going for April instead.
Hoping thats not educational suicide (as our son will be taking his GCSE's in May) but he promises to revise as well!
So more advice please from you very helpful snowheads!

Snowsure resorts for week 10th April preferably with alpine charm and "a real town"
For good intermediates who like a big ski area (but without access to a car)
Cheap.....ish (if only) rolling eyes
Easy public transport to airport

Thankyou very much

pishposhpesh,
If you miss out on cheap Zermatt hits a lot of your buttons, if this is the week after Easter it might not be ruinously expensive.

Chamonix is not bad either though I would rather have a car en Famille than take the bus around.

Les 2 Alpes is better viewed towards the mountains than the town but should suit otherwise.

Nendaz needs a combination of train and bus but is a cheaper way of skiing the snow sure 4 valley skiing than Verbier.

T Bar, Thanks for your help
Nendaz sounds a great choice. We always get a cheap s/c appt off the net.Notice there are lots of other access points into the area but guess you chose nendaz as nicest village?
Loads of s/c in other villages eg thyon, veysonnaz, bruson,La tzoumaz. Is it worth considering them too or are there drawbacks on lifts closing earlier in the season, not much public transport etc. Appreciate your comments

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

pishposhpesh,

I've only been to Nendaz and Verbier. Nendaz is very convenient for the area if you take the bus up to Siviez. The village is only moderately attractive but the views over the Rhone valley are stunning.
Of the other resorts Thyon is not very good to look at but the others are similar to Nendaz in looks or a bit better but much less convenient for the best snow.
Le Chable would be a possibility though but the views are not as good as those of Nendaz.

PS if going en Famille there are worthwhile reductions on the lift pass form Nendaz and possibly from the other resorts though I have not looked at them.
