Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sixt - Geneva (Swiss side)

Hi - does anyone know if winter tyres are fitted as standard on their cars? Have been quoted 9CHF per day as an extra (by Holiday Autos)?

Heading out to Val d' Isere on Thursday and the weather forecast is for light snow showers - will I be needing winter tyres or am I being overcautious?

Thanks guys

franga, The car from Sixt will have the winter tyres on it whether you pay Holiday Autos for them or not. They are a legal requirement on hire cars in Switzerland in the winter months. You can't not have them if you see what I mean. If you don't pre-pay for them to Holiday Autos then Sixt will bill your credit card for the charge afterwards anyway. This is what happened to me. It's a bugbear of mine that the tyres are on the cars anyway, therefore they are 'standard' equipment, yet they still whack an 'extras' charge on for them. I have argued this point with HA and gave up in the end. I think some of the other companies include the tyre charge in the basic price. Do a forum search on 'hire car holiday autos geneva' there has been much debate about all of this!

Agree with sarah, That's what I found to be the case. They're no exactly going to change them. It's partly why Swiss hire is so expensive.

If HA give you a car from Alamo that includes winter tyres at no extra cost............
