Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Second trip to Soll this year.
Had a great time but was disappointed with the accomodation.
For those interested I have posted a report on TA - link here...

Interested to read this because we have been twice but always hesitated to recommend it as I do see it as a cheap and cheerful option.

Suits us as we have young teenagers and dont want apres ski but do like to socialise in the evenings and it is a cheaper option than an upmarket chalet with fine cuisine which would be lost on kids. I like the informal atmosphere and enjoy sitting with others at dinner and then at the bar have always found the staff very polite, helpful and willing.

Yes hotels are smarter but we like the guarantee of meeting other Brits to chat too and we are there for the skiing - so not after smart accomodation, plush lounges etc. Yes it is a walk to the town but only 10/15 mins and we treat it as warm up/warm down after skiing and the brochure does clearly state this. Yes - our room was hot - so we kept window open and I am sure the Chef is trained and the other staff no less trained than other chalet staff. So as a cheap chalet alternative we have loved it - affordable and great fun over a Christmas and then New Year period. We have met other families who similarly have returned and large groups of early 20's for whom it seems to tick boxes too.

So your query as to why it is rated so highly - because for us a smart hotel is not a better option, accomodation out of town we prefer as we like the walk and Soll doesnt have other Brit run chalets ( I dont think). We have also stayed at Hotel Tyrol - fab food and room but no atmosphere and far more costly - we'd rather go cheaper and save the cash towards a second trip. But I do see that it is basic and I guess we just don't mind as the rest more than makes up for it.
