A contratemp with five snowbikers the other day had me wondering whether they are the lowest form of sliding.
Or is it snowbladers?
Or have I missed something more obvious like...

Is it my imagination, or are there a lot more snowbladers about this year? They do look awfully silly.

Hurtle, Les Arcs seems to attract more than its fair share of them, I think. Seems to be a bit more of a French thing I believe.

In MK obviously its tobogganers...prolly not the kids as they don't know any better but the adults.
On mountain anyone wearing a novelty hat or stag outfits. You can just see teh contempt emanating form monoskiers as they look upon them.

I saw a tandem at Glencoe last Saturday (two people strapped together side by side on mono skis), wished I'd got a photo as it looked pretty odd.

Without doubt snowbladers...
Monoboarders - well, bless them, they're clinging on to the retro thing - leave them to it, they're harmless.
Snowbikers - it's not going anywhere is it? Bit of a giggle i suppose, but lets leave it at that shall we...
Boarders - leave it out !
I've never seen anyone as out of control as a snowblader....

Every snowblader I have ever seen just appears to be a nerd, standard wear seems to be a twatty 'comedy hat', oversized long jacket and black salopettes, I think the ginger kid with spots and glasses who used to stand on the wing at school and no one ever passed the ball to grew up to be a snowblader. I can't think of anything that appeals less and looks sh*te.

That's unfair, Gsyfreerider, I was that kid. I grew up into a telemarker.
Ok, I think your point's valid then...

Alas no - I'm a relative baby in skiing terms. I started skiing just as parabolic skis came out.

FlyingStantoni, I started again in 1997, hadn't been for ten years and had never heard of carving skis as I hadn't really been keeping up with the ski scene. I arrived in Jackson Hole before the rest of my mates marched into the ski hire shop and just asked for some 200's, the guy looked at me like a freak and went around the back of the shop and came out with some 207's!!! I had half a morning of them taking me for a ski and was shattered, it was like turning the Titanic, swapped them for some 197 carving skis. It was only 4 days letter when I had a lesson the instructor politely mentioned times had changed and should I go down another 20cm!!

I saw a couple of people with long old-fashioned skinny skis in Courmayeur and even two chaps on monoskis! It was like the 80s never died...

queen bodecia, I skied with a top level off piste group in St Anton a couple of years ago. There was a Swedish guy in his early 70's who was on a pair of 20 year old skis and he just rocked, he wouldn't even entertain the idea of joining the fat revolution.

I used to work with an ex-copper who assured me that traffic was full of all the nutters. Furthermore, the absolute nutters in traffic were the cops on bikes. I therefore commend this submission as the ipso facto lowest form of sliding, spotted in a WC...
