Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Les Arcs off piste/short tours recommendations?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I'm off to les arcs next weekend for the first time. I'm looking for recommendations on good off piste lines & short day/half day/side country tours? I comfortably ski up to 45 degrees in just about all conditions, a bit steeper in good conditions & LOVE skiing couloirs the tighter & longer the better. I'll have 1 or 2 crash test dummies with me too.

So anyone able to help/like to ski with me? Oh & if you see me i'll be the guy skiing the black Kingswoods, i'd imagine i'll be the only person in the resort with a pair.

Hi, am I right in thinking you're the same frank4short that posts on UKC?

Have you seen this: http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=50078 not all Les Arc/La Plagne but there's a fair bit from there.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

There's lots of off-piste / short tour potential, but it's been super warm this week so most of the accessible off-piste is tracked and the more 'toury' bits are probably a bit crusty round the edges. The snowpack stability is struggling a bit in the sun, with heat generated slides being quite common on some predominately south-facing slopes.

Personally if there's a few of you then I'd hire a guide and go with their recommendations! Some friends were going to do North Face of the Bellecote on Thursday gone but the giude said it was effectively closed and took them on the backside of the ag rouge and then the off-piste route down to Nancroix which they all enjoyed.
