Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snow train ?

Hi

I may be wrong but I seem to remember from somewhere that you can put your car on a train in the UK at take it off some where around Northern Italy or at least somewhere near to Mont Blanc tunnel in France

Does anyone have any info or better still a link to a web page as I have looked around and can't find info.

Have you ever done this car/train thing ? does it work ? is it worth it ?

Many thanks

I knew people who did it years ago. It worked fine, but seemed fantasically expensive; it would have been cheaper to fly and hire a car, probably to train and hire. That was a while ago, things may well have changed. IIRC, the car got on the train in France, not UK.
When I was a nipper, we put the car on a 'plane and flew from Lydd (Kent) to Le Touquet a couple of times. There was also a flight to somewhere in Switzerland.

richmond,

Cheers for that - think I'll forget it and just put up the soup on french motorways,
it is simply impossible to drink that stuff they call coffee anywhere in France Madeye-Smiley .

The euro tunnel is cheap enough if you book it well in advance so it's ok.

Many thanks

I've used motorail before to get me and my motorcycle to the south of France. Although not cheap it worked out cheaper than the cost of petrol/tolls/half a rear tyre and other wear and tear on the bike and meant I was there from Calais overnight rather than an exhausting 18 hour ride...

I think with a car and four/five people it works out cheaper per head than flying...
