Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi, Having recently taken the wrong ski's on a trip to Europe, and p****d off with the airlines stitching you up for taking more than one set of ski's with you, I am considering trying to get one set of ski's that would fit my requirements.
Have used a pair of 174cm 78mm width touring ski's, and some 168cm GS ski's for on-piste. Both sets now sold.
I hired some Salomon Lords recently, 185cm which were great in powder and just fine on piste, so my thinking is that I need to go bigger than my original touring ski's.
What I am thinking is something about 180cm, about 85mm width. Should be 75% geared for off piste, and I will put touring bindings on them.
Just need some help on the right choice. I am 180cm, 88kgs, pretty experienced, about 4 weeks touring. Mainly prefer guided off piste/touring type skiing than charging on piste. I don't know what a snow park is.
Dynastar 8000, Bandit B3, Bandit 83, where should I be looking?? Thanks

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

jerry3029, Movement Spark at 82mm wide... pretty light wood core and 182, IIRC. .. or the Thunder at 88mm in 177.
Generally K2 Apache skis are too heavy, IMV but if the Explorer isn't typical, then that would be one to check out.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

jerry3029, if you go for the B83, they do a "respect" version that is lighter.

i have seen 2 pairs of the B83 "respect" break, most recently by a guy who is definitely not particularly heavy and nor an aggressive skier
