Tonale is reporting nearly 6m of snow on the Glacier. Anyone been recently to confirm? If this is true, the chair from the top of the gondola to the T-Bars on the glacier would be buried, or below the level of snow?

Snow depths must be amongst the most misleading figures in the world. Last week, Val d'Isere was reported as having 1.9m of snow. Given that some of the pistes (Coupe de Monde, Orange, even Epaule de Charvet) had grass and stones showing through in places, the figures are clearly either made up or apply to very specific areas.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I would guess that they don't have 6m of snow. I would imagine that is the accumulative amount of snow throughout the season. Some of this snow will have melted and the actual depth is probably much lower.

If its on a glacier then there could be 6metres of snow if they are countinbg the glacial snow that the lifts are built on top of.

johnboy, I know someone that is just back, she said it was powder all week so I'd say it's possible up on the glacier.

Christopher,
I don't believe they are reporting cumulative snow as the lower slopes were only reporting 1.4 m and they will have had bigger accumulations than that.
