Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Summer skiing/boarding in Saas Fee

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I fancy doing a week in the snow park in Saas Fee in the Summer. I've read it opens in July-ish...

Many of the online tour operators don't list the Summer months, what's the best way to book something like this?
I'm also aware of a snowboard camps there, any pointers would be great!

Just because I read that it's park is open in the Summer, and it's pretty good. Any other place in Europe would suit!

Edit: Just looked at your website... looks great, is there a park in LDA? Can you offer snowboard park tuition?

Tignes also has a decent park in the summer. Plus, usually about 20km of piste open. Opens earlier than Saas Fee - usually has good snow in June, though we've had decent skiing in July and August the last 2 summers. Lift system is also a lot better than Saas Fee, which only has a couple of drag lifts as I recall??

Other point to bear in mind is that the glacier at Les Deux Alpes is (IMO) a lot flatter than Tignes - which has some meaningful steep bits.

Stubai and Hintertux in Austria are excellent glaciers as well - though dunno about parks there?? Also, Austria will be lots cheaper than France, if that's a factor.

mountainaddict, there is no comparison between the park in Tignes and the park in LDA. Tignes is a bit steeper on the whole, but LDA has more space allocated to 'regular' skiers, and until we lose them we have the dome (a good red) and the 'wall' which at 45 deg at the top probably tops anything in tignes for steepness. ~Steep is not everything, and if it's good enough for the french team 'geantistes' then it's probably good enough for most! LDA is significantly cheaper than Tignes in cost of living too!

easiski, Leisse in tignes? A steep, black (literally!) icey wall of doom in the summer. Havent been to LDA so cant really compare.

Off to Saas Fee to do some alpine walking/climbing in July. Might investigate the summer skiing.

......er, I didn't make any comparison, I just said Tignes has a decent park. You love LDA glacier/resort, I love Tignes glacier/resort - each to their own.

I agree that steep's not everything and didn't mean to infer that it is. Simply stating that (as you agree) the glacier at Tignes is steeper than that at LDA and thereby alluding to the fact that it has the potential to entertain most skiers for longer. I just love skiing - and any summer day on a glacier - whether the run is black, red, blue or running rivers of slush over mini crevasses - is a bonus ski day for me.
