Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Arc 1800 runs the Chantel nursery slope under floodlights twice a week. AIUI, Arc 2000/1950 also have night skiing a couple of times a week.

Tuesday and Thursday evenings the 'marmottes' run is open. I looked at it most evenings thinking that looks fun but then remembered I am looking at it from inside a double glazed window and its about -20 outside and went back to to a true alpine evening skiing tradition, wine and food:-D

I have skied Marmottes (Arc 2000) at night. It is great. Do it!

the lights were on a run down to Monthchavin (la plagne) last night.

personally I think night skiing is a 'do it once' approach - it's cold and the pistes are pretty icy..plus if you've done 09:00 to 17:00 then a vin chaud and some tartiflette is a better option that more skiing.

Sometimes the floodlight runs are dull, certainly chantel couldn't be called exciting - at least with the marmottes lift in 2000 you have a choice of about 3 routes back to bottom..and one of them has a vaguely steep pitch, and on the other you can find some bumps..

You could always take your own lighting...

bertie bassett, Indeed there's one way down marmottes with no light at all, just a glow from the spots on the other runs, and the sparks off the skis - presumably on rocks or pebbles showing through - but is very exhilarating.

IIRC last week they run it is early March, as the evenings begin to lighten up there not a lot to differentiate it from just being a long day.

Oh, and there's no piste music by 1950 this year - apparently during the summer, someone drove up in a van, unplugged them all, and drove off with the lot. I'm told it wasn't a disgruntled apartment owner - although how they can tell...

I've done a run in the dark a time or 2 from a mountain hut back to resort and last month actually used the floodlit run in Hinterglemm a good few times too. It feeds the run back down one side of it for some piste action as well as the boarder park the other side of it.
