Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Worryingly, this grotesque anti-social monster gets a favourable review in a newspaper:

http://www.bnd.com/426/story/667741.html

Quote:
Does it work? Yep. It feels like riding a motorcycle on snow. Turning is a little different, but experienced motorcycle riders will figure it out in a few minutes.

God help us

Quote:
Is it like riding a snowmobile? Not really. Of course, both ride on snow, but a snow bike feels more like riding a motorcycle ...

Now there's a surprise

Quote:
What about gas mileage? About 10 to 15 percent less mileage than you would get when dirt riding ...

So that's a plus for the environment

Looks fantastic fun - apart from the noise. And one would want a completely empty mountainside to play on.

David Goldsmith, I dedicate this link to you and I offer the first sprog of Spawn of Masque in grateful thanks for bringing this marvel of technology to my attention Twisted Evil

As an alternative to the gross, fat, over-engined plastic crap that is the 'snowmobile' this is a better use of resources in reducing the need for two vehicles, lesser materials inherent in a multi use mode of transport and the noise issue is just one of personal choice as to exhaust design. If the same vehicle can be used year round with only minor equipment differences then it is far more eco friendly than needing separate vehicles.

Let's not forget that this is just a drive-train modification and is independent of the motive force. As we develop alternative sources of motive power to drive us around on two wheels, there is no reason at all that this may not be electrically driven and completely sustainable.

David Goldsmith, Sorry Dave, were these not quite the responses you were looking for? Very Happy

Liking the info on their website claiming speeds (albeit from GPS) of 90+Mph. Having had a bit of a blatter about on a snowmobile before, these look much less cumbersome.

David Goldsmith, if everything with an engine in his world was bad, you'd be writing with a stylus on clay and shovelling ox dung in Samaria and I'd be living off fermented mare's milk and deflowering your daughters . . . progress happens . . and just sometimes it makes human existence a bit more fun than survival Confused

What a horrific thought (it doesn't help that I saw an Arthur Miller play on that theme last night, with a very bloody ending). Whatever engines they need to avoid that fate are theirs.

David Goldsmith, selective editing isn't helping you here wink out of context quotes are only effective if no-one else can see the context. Let's face it, we do have to consider that life is so short that sometimes it's right to have fun Toofy Grin

Oh lordy-momma, that snow bike thingy looks excellent. Haha. Just think, if the engine was quiet to fit in with the mountains people would then complain that they can't hear it coming before it mercilessly mows them down and the riders would be forced to wear cow-bells as a warning - or a snowbike-buddy would have to walk infront of them carrying a red torch or something... Scarpa, perfect for those hard, compacted pistes after a month without snow. Forgot mixing with the plebs in the gondolas and queueing for the chairlifts - jump one of those and head on up the hill. Liking those boys' style Smile
