Hoping someone will be able to point me in the right direction on this one, we are after a holiday middle of march which includes two adults and one 4yr old who has never skied before. Our priorites are:
1. Accommodation being close to the slopes, ski in and out would be ideal if available
2. Type of accommodation is flexible although we do not want to end up in a chalet on our own (too unsociable!)
3. Child care - great ski school for the 4 year old and some other child care but not all day everyday, so flexible in timings
4. Other family things to do eg. indoor play area, swimming pool, organized activities that we can all enjoy
5. Babysitting facility for night time - this is quite important as we do not to be stuck in a hotel room/chalet room every evening for the week.....!
6. Budget priced - I know this is the big one, I have looked at some of the all inclusive family holidays and they are very expensive so looking for the budget option that still caters for the childcare
Can't wait to get out on the piste again and hope our son gets into the skiing as well

Annaba, welcome to snowheads. I think one of your criteria is going to have to go - but you never know, somewhere with great facilities, flexible childcare, organised family activities and super cheap prices might just come up. But I wouldn't hold your breath......

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Annaba, Welcome to s. I would recommend you look at www.snowbizz.co.uk We have just booked with them and are going mid March. They meet just about every one of your criteria:
1.Their accomm is at the foot of the slopes, the lifts facing the apartments
2. The accomm is in apartments but apparently they organise various family friendly apres-ski events and so there is lots of opportunity to meet and socialise with others and almost all other Brits in the resort will be Snowbizz clients.
3. The Toton ski club for your old looks perfect, 9-1 each morning with creche around the skiing lesson. Optional flexi creche sessions for the afternoon, book as many or as few sessions as you like.
4. Snowbizz organise lots of family activites I believe, also sledging, husky dog rides, cineam, ice skating
5. You can have a babysitter in your apartment or your child can do evening Kiddie Club for 2 hours each night.
6. We paid £750 total for the three of us, flights, transfers, accomm. There were no supplements, no hidden extras, ski carriage was included, there was no charge for paying by credit card either.
I am very optimistic that this will be a great family holiday for us, lots of other Snowheads have posted very positive feedback. I would have a look at them and call and speak to Wendy the owner.

sarah, was that a last-minute deal? Much cheaper than their website. The set up looks ideal for families but not hyper-cheap. e.g. the Toton club costs £175 for the week. though you wouldn't expect top quality child care to come cheap. I am typing this whilst listening for one of the 3 grand-children asleep upstairs to wake up (they don't usually). Son and daughter-in-law taking advantage of visiting grandparents to go down the pub for an hour or so; with a 3 month old wholly breastfed baby the opportunities are fleeting.
The only way I could find of having a cheapish ski holiday with child-care available was by taking granny. That was 22 years ago. Now I'm granny.......
come to think of it, you CAN find top quality cheap child-care.

pam w, booked 3 weeks ahead of departure date, yes an offer on the offers page of their website. I think it looks like an ideal set up all round for families. The Toton club is not cheap but I think it is fairly priced and it is more reasonable than the competitors' equivalent options.
Enjoy the babysitting

Annaba, we have some offers for mid March that should meet most of your criteria. It would be more than the £750 quoted by sarah for the snowbizz holiday but still cracking value - although I'm bound to say that .
Have a look at http://www.skifamille.co.uk/family_skiing_special_offers.asp or drop me a personal message with any queries.

We have been with Snowbizz three years running. Can't recommend enough - the kids (6 and 9) love it and can't wait to go back next year. The owner Michelle stays in resort all season and is always on hand. Tuition for kids and adults very good and the kids love the evening kiddie club which gives us a couple of hours peace in the bar. To be honest the only problem is keeping up with the amount of stuff there is to do. Oh, and the skiing is great too - loads of tree skiing if that is your thing.
