Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Mitchell, I haven't been to Ellmau for a while (umm, 5 years?), but here're some random thoughts. It might also be worth doing a search on here for posts erlating to Soll, as there are some good tips for there as well (e.g. the roast chicken place near the top of the Soll Gondola...yum).

Ellmau's a nice town, if a little quiet - it's mainly full of Dutch families. It's a bus ride from town to the funicular (which is pretty fast)...you can ski over from the nursary slopes in town, but it's not generally worth it. It's also not really worth skiing back to town from the funicular - the run down into town gets really icy in the afternoons and is normally plastered with nervous skiers. The home run down to the funicular, though, is one of the best ni the SkiWelt and is well worth doing early in the morning when it's empty.

There's a good restaurant mid-way downt the Ellmau home run, on the left, but I can never remember its name. The Ellmauer Alm at the bottom of the nursary slopes is also nice for lunch. The Mexican in town also used to be pretty good

If you're a confident intermediate or better then definitely head over to Westendorf if you can - there are some great reds in the back bowl, and a good restaurant a little off the beaten track (far right of piste map).

Enjoy!

Chris
