Looking for some advice on Rossignol Bandit skis. Just back from Meribel where I hired a pair of Dynastar Legends. Took them back after day 1 since they felt really unweildy on the piste and swapped them for a slightly shorter pair of B3s (the green ones). What a difference, so much so, I'm considering buying a pair.
My question is what is the difference between the various bandit skis (B1, B2, B3 etc) and are the B3's the most appropriate for me. I ski mainly on-piste (not had much chance to experience powder) and would describe myself a good intermediate. I like short turns and moguls more so than carving.
Thanks in advance
Brian

Isn't the difference just widiths, though they are last seasons skis, and not the same this year. PLenty of peopel seem to like them but they're not meant to be as good as they were and certainly better freeride skis out there. If you're more on piste and like short turns and moguls I'sd probably look at something else rather then

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The Bandits are an intermediate ski with a lot of flex, the legends are for adavnced skiers, you have to put a more pressure into them to get them to perform. I belive the B1..2...3 is to do with the stiffnes and build, the bigger the number the stiffer and more complex the contrauction.

reidb, B2 solid go-anywhere ski. I have hired a few pairs. Always felt safe on them; somehow they lacked the wow factor - but others like them. B3 more oriented towards off-piste. Hard to seriously fault them.
vitabella, welcome to snowheads.

reidb, I would suggest you don't buy anything!!
As you've already found there's a large difference in feel both between model and lengths and at the moment there's no way of telling which of these 2 variables made the difference to your skiing....... in addition on day 2 you always feel more in control that day 1 so how do you know changing the skis made any difference at all??
I'm currently using 175cm B80s and am getting on well with them... tried the B2s and didn't........... tried 185 B80s and didn't and found 165s were very easy!!
Mrs M......... who is technically a better skier than me doesn't like the B80s at all!
So I think my recommendation is only buy a pair of skis once you've skied with them and others and buy the ones you got on best with.

You'll need to Register first of course.

I would humbly suggest the drop in length and the softer flex made the Rossi Bandits feel "better." If you can handle the Legend it is a great ski.

Hired 160cm B3s in VT earlier in the year and really enjoyed them. Looking to buy now, and there's some good deals on B83s (which ~83mm waist means they're pretty much the newer version of the B3s). 160s felt a little short (i'm 5'10") so looking at 168s. Was initially looking at K2s but don't want to fork out £450.
I think SC80 is pretty much the new version of the B2... though someone may disagree with me.
Keen to know if you've learned anything else since posting... especially if anyone has any advice on length?
Cheers,
Mike.

I also recently used the Dynastar Legend 8000 and thought they where an oustanding ski. Im not sure I would class myself as an advanced skier. But I found them super responsive, light and easy enough to get from edge to edge on piste. They ploughed through the heavy snow on piste and the liitle amount of off piste we did they seem ok too. Although im not qualified to judge on off piste skiing or skis.
Its a real shame you didnt give them more of a go.

My son is doing a season cooking in Meribel and wangled a pair of Legends from one of the ski rental places - he likes them very much. He's an advanced skier.

Always used to be marketed as B1 90% Piste @ 10% Off; B2 50:50; B3 10% piste : 90% off

How can you tell if they are B 1's, 2's or 3's? Looking at buying a pair but the seller doesn't know which they are. Cheers.

The model is marked on the tail of the ski.

IIRC I paid 100 euro for my pair of B3s second hand. There are lots of ex hire bandits out there.
