I'm pondering a cheap trip somewhere in March, I've seen last minute deals into France and Austria for a 7 night holiday reach £200 or less. But do such cheap deals exists for 3/4 night stays?
Budget is low, and time off work is minimal - but I'm desperate to get away again

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

it's that same old problem the 3/4 night breaks often turn out more than the 7 night package deals. Someone could clean up if they operated a business doing 3/4 night package deals with flights, transfers & chalet/hotel. I've given up on the short trips now and go with the 7 night package much more cost effective when on a budget.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

That's what I've always thought, but I've hardly got any leave left from work so it's my only option for now

just returned from a four nighter - would have been pretty cheap but we paid for a nicer catered hotel, where we would have been just as happy in a hostel. also, only two of went so it would have been cheaper still if we could have split the hire car 3 or 4 ways. we flew early wednesday and returned late sunday. skiing by lunch on the wed, and enjoyed a full day on the sun.
return flights to Geneva £80, Hostel in Chamonix or Verbier 4 nights £100, car between 4 £40, enevitable extra charges here and there rounds it up to a nice £250 quid.
Buy daily lift passes, then your not stuck in a resort if you fancy a change, they also do reduced price passes for off peak times and afternoon only if you find yourselves lying in one day, also if you want a day off skiiing ie horrible weather, your not paying for it.
Ski hire, just go to an independant shop in a resort and barter! you can get a decent pair of skis for £20 a day.
throw a few tins of beans & pot noodles etc in your case before you set off, or maybe even knock up a few days worth of butties to eat on the slopes. Never been tight enough to bother with that myself though - them £10 cold spag bogs in the mountain restaurants are all part of the fun.
so it can be done, i personally miles prefer this to a package. you land, get in the car and your off - no looking for some bird with a clipboard, no being herded onto buses like sheep, no waiting while others are dropped off at their hotels, no being pressured into buying your ski hire and lift passes from the reps, etc etc - freedom!

like i said, 3/4 nights are great and wish a company would specialise in them but the bottom line is it's cheaper to go on 7 day package deal in most cases.

You just have to book the flights, hire the car and then start looking for an apartment owner who will do those four nights. Look up somewhere like owners direct or holiday rentals and ask as many owners as you can find what they can do. I am prepared to offer any unbooked nights in March at £40-50 per night for a one-bed apartment (*sleeps up to 6) and so do many other snowheads. For flexibility and value it can't be beaten.
*would have been less but we now pay someone to do the changeovers.
