Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Siviez (Verbier) this w/e just gone

Friday - expected snow didn't materialise and my choice of Pocket Rockets in the morning proved to be a dud one. Over to Verbier, right down to bottom, up and around. Back via Gentianne (spelling ?). Good at top but some serious moguls at bottom.

Saturday Vallee d'Arbi (or whatever it's called) - exciting little path/toboggan run just after the start, after that a good bowl, then it was a long bumpy path to a long flat path. Tried to ski between the Vs on the bumpy path. Snow very heavy, no fun, so I gave that up. Wouldn't rush to do again, would do the shorter variation perhaps. Absolute white out later on in which we got to do Gentianne again. Loads of powder and getting to the top fun but after that it was ski by feel. Ate my share of powder. A real kahoonas job trying to decide where to straight line it at the bottom in order to get across the flattish bit. At least I walked a little less than the others.

Itinerie at the top of Grippon Blanc. - did it Sunday morning. Great route, we were 3rd set of tracks down after a lone skier and a boarder. A lot of very light powder at top, so light you could sometimes hit the harder snow a foot below. Fantastic run, took me a while to get used to powder again. So much snow even the bumps at the end were fun, just bumpy powder. Missed the bus by 2 minutes, managed to scrounge a taxi that was waiting for another group. Lifts (slow/t-bars/drags) on way back a bit of a pain but a lot of off-piste available. Too far for the Verbier crowd ?? Will definitely do again.

I don't know if I'd wiped it from my memory but I didn't remember they stuck the orange poles on the itineries, made navigation a lot easier, well, virtually impossible to go wrong.

The itinerie of Greppon Blanc down to Masse is a good run, and is not too far for the Verbier crowd. It is just a bit of a chase to get back before the last lift if you have spent too much time playing in veysonaz.

JT, depending on where you are staying it is best started around 12 - 12.30 to get the most of the trip. I'm a big fan, like Vallon d'Arbi, a very mellow pitch that if you know the right line can deliver the goods for a good week after a storm...

parlor,

I just can't get to Verbier.... Sad my plan was to come from Annivers but it was further than I thought by road ( I timed it from Martigny on the way to Annivers) and I didn't have control of the car and couldn't risk public transport ..and the day I had ear-marked was low vis anyway... Sad Sad

All these things conspired against... I would have entered the sys at Les Collons, I think, or one of the lower villages around there but then I would have to get the bus back uphill into Annivers which doesn't run too late...
so all in all.... it wasn't going to work...

But, if I ever make it over there, I will give you a call..... if you aren't busy..

parlor, looked to me like 2 different options for Greppon. Part way up you can drop into a different mini-valley. Is this the one you had in mind ? I could see some tracks in that one coming from further left along the ridge somewhere. We carried on to the top and followed the poles, which from memory disappear once you hit the path, where it's pretty hard to get lost and everyone cuts the V's anyway.

Where we came out there was a bus stop and hot food campervan thingy. We passed through Mache, which you'd mentioned, quite a way down the road.

Anyway, a public thanks for the tips and will catch up with you another time.

(My other id on hold for 300 posts or so)
