Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Swede causes riots in Gulmarg with Koran sticker on his skis

A Swedish man on a ski holiday in Kashmir (India) caused angry demonstrations, and demands that he be punished for putting a sticker with a verse from the Koran on his skis. The man was nearly beaten by angry protesters on Saturday in the Gulmarg, with several protesters calling for all foreigners to leave the resort. Police intervened, and took him in for questioning, where he explained that the sticker had been given to him for good luck by his wife, who is Muslim...

The offending sticker quoted the first verse of the Koran, which states, “In the name of Allah, the most beneficent, most merciful.”

Calm was returned to the area after a prominent Muslim cleric instructed locals to pardon the man, after he offered an apology for what he deemed an “unintentional” act.

Lechbob, it seems unlikely that all all those protesting are practitioners of ESP, although some may well be.

Calm has been restored to Gulmarg, following the Swedish skier's apology:

This report from The Hindu.

Quote:
A day after Gulmarg observed a total shutdown demanding action against a Swede for carrying a ski slider with verses of holy Quran inscribed on it, the tourist on Monday tendered an apology.

Quote:
On Saturday, locals handed over Patrin to police after they found inscriptions of Quran on the slider he was carrying after a day out on the slopes of Gulmarg.

This report is not the first to refer to the equipment as a "ski slider" or simply "slider". Is it the consensus view that there is anything significant in this?
