Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Bit of a typo there; should read 'I am basically dishonest providing that I think that I can get away with it ...'. Man up, pay the money or stay at home, are my thoughts, since you ask for them.

Ricmond I know i am going to have to pay up but this will be the first time i will have paid for the little b******* right in the middle of a period of financial meltdown desperate times require desperate measures and any plan no matter how badly flawed it may be is better than no badly flawed plan at all.

doghead, you'll have to pay the full price for him. It will be good practice for when he's 18/19/20, you're subbing him at uni, and he still wants to go skiing with you Toofy Grin

You would spend the whole lead up worrying about whether it would be noticed that the passport has a different date of birth from the ticket, and worrying about a fraud complaint (at worst) or being denied travel (at best) if it was. Not worth the stress in my book.

I would have thought you might manage to negotiate/charm some type of discount given that there is no difference between the cost of providing a place for an 11 and 12 year old.

I am not sure that your definition of "desperate times" is necessarily the same as other people's given that you can manage the rest of the cost of the holiday!

Not worth the aggravation... travel by car maybe and hire an apartment direct with the owner?... that way you just divide the overall cost whichever way you see fit.

E.g. we are paying £600 for our apartment - as I see it that is £200 per adult and £100 per child... or you could say £300 per adult and the kids are free. If we were driving the kids would be 'free' as it costs the same in petrol, tunnel, tolls etc whether we have 2 of us in the car or 4?

Tell me about it. It certainly stings, but you'll have to get used to it, I'm afraid. DIY is probably the way ahead; it always seems to be cheaper in Europe, given that last minutes are out of the frame.

there's no such thing as a free lunch, or a free child. You pay, somewhere along the line. As others have suggested, drive a car down, rent an apartment, and you pay the same, whether you are a party of 2, 3 or 4. Or 5, if you have a big enough car.

That's what I thought until we booked our trip in April last year with a "free" place. We are off to Zell am See in 2 weeks time - yippee! I checked what the same booking would cost now and, sure enough, we would have to pay another £600 if we booked today.

So a place might well be free for the recipient, although everyone else pays collectively for it at the end of the day of course!

Hi
The best thing is not to go on a package. Book the low cost flight and then accomodation and transfer ( although 1 week car rental is cheaper at only € 149 inclusive of winter tyres and insurance ) . It really is That simple. Our apartments are based on occupancy so for example 2 persons in an apartment with third person sharing is € 12 per night extra. From March 14th children get a free ski pass.
Do not risk changing the age as you could get to the airport and be denied boarding , and loose what you paid. You would be in contravention of the booking conditions, and there would be no chance to offer and cough up the extra money at the airport as they have nothing to do with the sales.
Best find an affordable alternative in the first place. Razz
