Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

North Wales Skiing / Ski Lift. Snowhead Farmer ?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
This is more of a request for help / cooperation really. We are forecast some good snow and cold conditions for the weekend and I happen to have in my stores a Briton Portable Ski Tow that I bought as a speculative investment some time ago but have never used yet. Is there anybody within a reasonable radius of Wrexham that has a decent 100m long snow covered slope that wanted to help us experiment with this ? It would need to be a private area as otherwise I guess everbody and his dog would want a go, and I don't want to get into any Helf and Safety issues etc. (This is the UK remember). Anybody interested let me know either via posting, private message or e-mail via details below.

skitow,

Briliant idea. Always wanted to do it. Have a farm in N. Ireland. Where did you buy the tow? How much was it?

johnboy,
I've always fancied a trip to Northern Ireland but now is not the time........
I bought it secondhand but it was. maybe still are? made by a company called Briton, in Huddersfield I think. If you google Briton / snow I think youwill find the firm. I think they are more in to dry slope surfaces now.

You could always build your own - all you need is a lot of car parts. Seach for Allenheads on Flickr and you'll see some tractor driven units.

I was trying to prepare a piste in Longford today but tractor wouldn't start because of cold! Maybe more joy tomorrow. A tow sounds a good idea.

I live near Wrexham but have no contacts with the required slope. Anything else I can do though... I throw in my time.

Wales is due a dump Tues.

You had better get a move on.

Be careful not to accidentally ski into the back of a white sheep during the snowstorm wink

Did you ever use your tow?
I was kindly (i think) donated a Britonlift too but the array of pulleys and poles are a bit confusing, can you offer any advice on how to set it up ?
