Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

How to measure a board?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,
My son wants to start boarding, his heart is set on a board he has seen for sale in an add, and want to know how you measure a board - sounds silly I know. Is it all the board or just the flat surface?

Thanks
Smurfett

Welcome to snowHead

The measurement is all the board from tip to tail. You should also consider the weight of the rider, this will also have a bearing on the length of the board they will need.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Hi Smurffet.

there are plenty of guides on the web if you do a search.
Most give the same advice and will help you choose.
Remember to take into account what style of riding your son wants to do.

Hope this helps

hi smurfett, your best bet is to find out the length, make and model of the board. vidit the manufacturers website and they'll give a suggested weight range for the board.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

some boards measure differently, never summer for example measure the curve in the final length as opposed to the standing height. For beginner just below the chin is good unless he's massivley overweight. Shoe size is important also. Over uk adult 10 you're looking at a wide.
