Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

08 SKI TESTS

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Does anyone know the outcome of the Daily Mail and SKGB 08 ski tests.
I bought a pair of Volk Energy Motions a few years ago on their reccomendation for best prestige/advanced piste ski. Sadly I've manged to snap the core in the middle of one of the skis and need a replacement in the next couple of weeks.

Have so far looked at K2 Hellfires - looks nice - maybe too soft and atomic duo D2 - not keen. Just wondered what the experts think for this year if anyone can help?

We have a Gear Guide online to have an ogle at - www.fall-line-media.com
It's got a thingy where you put in what you want to do and how good you are and then it gives a few options, which might get you started. You'll be astonished at how effective the new breed of fatter-waisted skis are.

fallliner, I'll second that. My mew planks at 98mm turn in the moguls better than my old 76's Shocked

I agree with the last post. Volkl Tigersharks are awesome ski's... pricey but very very worth it!

Which Tigershark model? - they look pretty awesome from what I've heard.

What size and price for the motions?

I've used the 10 ft model without power switch, which is the advanced level ski rather than the "expert's" 12ft. The 10ft is narrower at 73mm but I found they did the job on- and off-piste in all but deep fresh. In that they sank a bit. The 12ft is probably more versatile. Not sure I would pay the extra for the power switch gubbins, I can just see it being ripped off by some Parisian teenager on snowblades in the lift queue!

 Ski the Net with snowHeads

After exhaustive research I've looked at every site on the world wide web - there's some sick people out there but that 's another story.
The skis that I'm looking at are the Atomic Drive 11's, K2 Hellfires, Volkl Tigershark and Atomic SL10.
I probably think I'm a better skiier than I am (probably not alone there) but I do like fast hard turns and need stability at speed.
Any suggestions appreciated as I'm off to St Johan in two weeks time Madeye-Smiley
Anyway, its back to loveyourdonkey.com rolling eyes

OK, think i'm going to insult a few people here, I really must appologise but I'm affraid its time for a bit of cynical truth here, ski reviews in many GB magazines are quite biased. The are swayed by marketing money amongst other things which is really unfortunate. They are good to get a rough idea about a ski but to be honst youre far better off actually speaking to guys on some of the good forums rather than trusting what the media writes, obviously this is a total generalisation but in my experience there was only one mag (now unfortunately online only) that gave totally unbiased reviews! Have you tried natives.co.uk and ski-review.com to get a feel? Could try demoing at some of the UK indoor slopes aswell? Best of luck, now I'm off to loveyourdonkey.com!!

 You know it makes sense.
You know it makes sense.
I have been told this by a few of the retailers that I have contacted - the reviews are biased by advertising.

Currently looking at Dynastar contact grooves, Volkl AC30 and Tigershark - it gets more confusing!

holidayloverxx click on 'GEAR' at the top then enter your ski preferences.

Hhave you tried takeyourdonkeyskiing.com? I've just purchased two pairs of skis and some trotter bindings..
