Just to be clear, if you are in Claviere or monty then you should be fine for skiing on Monday, and when i left this morning there was approx 30cm fresh in Claviere @ 1700m and was snowing hard all the way down to Turin airport

Without any experience of snow really (one week skiing previously on ice/slush in April) today was amazing, low visibility but incredible powdery runs through the trees during and after fantastic lessons, sauze has, 24 hours in, proved an absolute winner! More snow forecast for next 24 hours

Smokin Joe, if we could get a lift up we would! We had our first shots of the holiday in your bar yesterday afternoon before braving Gran Pista (which was probably overreaching but was empty and good fun).

Curzonian, Yes, it was very crowded on the limited slopes that were open, but we found 2 blacks that were empty, and helped mash them up! The weather went from heavy snow, to hot sunshine, necessitating a clothing and goggle change, back to cloudy, and finally snow again. Off to Sierre Chevalier tomorrow for a lesson with Darren Turner; check out his ski apps and tutorials on youtube. Best snow I have ever had in alps.. fantastic

cstreat, hot sun didn't quite make it over here. ONly a very brief appearance before wind and snow kicked in again.

Fantastic day today in sauze, clotes lift shut as consequence of continuing strike action which is a pain but otherwise great snow, blue skies, lovely pistes

Over cast but clear today, with quite a lot of snow melt at resort level. Off out in a mo but just recovering from a hard day in SC, which was a superb ski area. It could snow later, by the look of it.

musher, it seems that current lifts that are closed will remain so for foreseeable future - in sauze that means the clotes lift up from the village (though lifts above it are open) so sportinia is main other option I think.
Pistes were in great nick today and should be fantastic for tomorrow and Friday in the sun!

Cloudless day, perfect snow at all levels on piste, and still plenty of untracked off piste. Only negative is a sunburnt nose. Perfection in Montgenevre.

What's this about lift closures, does it mean some areas of the via lattea are now not accessible?

Peter Ross, musher, tbh all I know is that in sauze the clotes lift has remained closed while others above it and the sportinia route up are open. Loads of pistes open, links to sestriere and montgenevre are fine afaik. With Turin crowd expected tomorrow it may be that they're all open again, don't want to annoy the locals do they?!
Really warm today, pistes still in good nick but slightly slushier late on.

Proper spring day in Montgenevre today; slushy on south facing slopes, turning crusty by 4pm. Very warm; 1 base layer and shell jacket open. Slopes protected from sun still excellent. I don`t think that there will be a better week this season, but I hope that I`m wrong for those of you still to visit. All lifts in Claviere were open today.

Smokin Joe, above you mention staying at the Orso Bianco - what was it like? The prices look pretty good for low season and if, as they say, they do cater for short breaks i'd quite fancy trying a long weekend up there.
Presumably (?) you can book a skiddoo to pick you up in the evenings if you went into town?
