Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

It's a cable car that runs from Orelle (in the "4th valley") that links in above Val Thorens. Apparently it takes about 15 minutes

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Adrian XX, it's a gondola and takes (IIRC) somewhere around 10 - 15 minutes. Good views on the journey.

Its a gondola from orelle base station just off the motorway to the orelle ski area base. It takes about 15-20 minutes if i recall (about 4 years ago!). There is no piste under it so you cant ski to the bottom. At the top there are two chair lifts and a few good pistes also access to val thorens and 3 valleys.

Thanks for your replies. What's Orelle like as a place to stay? Is there a pub/restaurant/shop?

There is a bar of the bottom of the lift and a restaurant/spa in the new apartments that have just been built and they are opening up a small supermarket in the apartments. Have a look at a previous post - not a huge amount to do in the evenings but it's slowing getting developed but great access into 3v.

I stayed near here in St Michel de Maurienne 2 years ago on a solo trip. I stayed at the Savoy hotel in St Michel- very good value basic rooms but excellent food. St Michel is a very french town but very quiet at night. I had a car so orelle lift was 5 mins away but good access for less well know resorts such as Valloire. Orelle village did not look like much at the time but excellent 3V access, hardly any other punters at all at the fast gondola station in the morning
