Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hesitating between several resorts

I am from Canada, skied in Aspen last year, and now looking at going back to Utah or Colorado. I am hesitating between Telluride, breckenridge, Alta and Deer Valley. Want the best powder, off-track, potential heli-ski and amazing scenery. Any thoughts ?

Marie-Lise, welcome to Snowheads.

As far as I'm aware there is no heli-skiing available in USA (apart from Alaska). Personally I'd go for Utah but would probably elect to stay in Park City and visit different areas. Alta is just great for powder but not an ideal place to stay. Not a lot going on. Deer Valley a bit snooty IMO.

Isn't there heli-skiing (very controversial!) in the Wasatch?

I am not sure what type of skier you are but if you are looking for powder than, of your choices, Alta is clearly the best place. The wasatch does have heli skiing but as the above mentioned it is controversial and maybe limited. In general, Utah is much better for powder than colorado. There are scores of places in Utah like, snowbird, solitude, brighton, snowbasin that are also great. Deer Valley is one of the worst. Also Breckenridge and Telluride are not comparable to the above mentioned places in Utah. If you want to go to Colorado go to Crested Butte, Wolf Creek or maybe even Vail.
