Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Moutiers to Val Thorens

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,
We are getting the snow train to Moutiers arriving on Saturday 4th April 2009 and are looking for a way to get to Val Thorens? I rang the altibus company but there isn't a bus until 12.15pm when the train arrives at 8am, bit of a long wait, and doesn't seem very fair when there is a bus at 8am every day except Saturdays (which is the day most people arrive)! Does anyone know of any other means of transportation - buses, cheapish taxis, up the mountain? Or is there a transfer share we could do? We didn't really want to pay out for a minibus as it's already costing a lot with the Euro dropping so much. Any ideas very much appreciated. Thanks.

skili2, Welcome to Snowheads. There is a taxi rank right outside Moutiers station, but I'm afraid I've no idea how much it would cost you. Distance to VT is about 35kms. You could find taxis on Pages Jaunes and give them a call for a quote.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I've done this trip a number of times but have arrived around 6.30am so getting the coach hasn't been a problem when I've done it. When in a group we've elected to get a taxi for 4-5 ppl and split the cost, which is about 100euro. That's probably your best bet. Sorry it's not the news you wanted.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Hm, tx for your help, I just got quoted €27 per person one-way in a taxi so may have to go with that option if nothing else comes up.

skili2, Go for the taxi. The bus is not cheap, about €45 return per person last year when we took it as far as Les M, and is much slower than the taxi too, and on a pretty windy road. You'll also be able to bag that extra days skiing. snowHead snowHead

skili2, taxi down from VT to Moutiers was €90 a few weeks ago, so i'd imagine about the same on the way up. If there are a few of you to divide the cost its perfect....

you might be able to hitch a lift on a tour operator coach as im sure they will be picking people up off the train. By the way there is a bus at 7.45 so are you sure the train wont arrive earlier?

We just done this trip catching the day train out and the night train back....... well the day train was great but never again on the night train, what a nightmare!
