Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hello there,

new to this forum so hi to everyone. After searching, I couldnt find any info on Arinsal on here. Going there on 18th Jan for a week with a bunch of mates. Slightly worried about whether there'll be enough snow, conditions of slope, number of runs etc. Can anyone provide any info on this please and also good places to go apres ski? Much appreciated.

Hi there

Arinsal is where I learnt to ski, and enjoyed it so much we went back for our second time as well.

Not a big resort, and therefore not to scary in terms of getting lost, needing to read the map etc, loads of beginners and a lively but fairly small (although it could be a bit bigger now) apres scene.

It's now linked by gondola to the neighbouring resort of Pal, which was connected by bus when I was there. This adds a bit of variation and there are some nice if easy slopes there if I remember right.

If you are looking for a hard skiing week, this isn't the place, if you're looking for fun, nothing to hard or expansive then you will be fine.

I think they have called the area Vallee Nord, or something so I know they have a website if you search

Hey StroppyBoarder

Welcome to the SnowHeads Forum.

Arinsal hasn't got a huge ski area, but it's one of the friendlist ski resorts on the planet and the snow conditions at the minute are excellent. The narrow Arinsal ski area is linked by cable car with the bigger forested ski area at Pal, so there's plenty to keep you entertained for a few days; then, when you get bored of the local area, take the ski bus over to the Arcalis ski area (included on all Vallnord area lift passes).
The apres ski scene is based around lively music bars and there's a fair scattering of them from one end of the village to the other, perfect for a week-long crawl. Check out this earlier SnowHeads thread for a bit more info & links.

I was in Arinsal last year in March time and it was great. We had a really fun week - great snow, even better weather - t-shirts it was great. We stayed in a great little ** hotel half-board and it worked great for us. We partied most nights and had a blast. Its a pretty small town with just a few shops, mainly bars, restaurants & hotels/apts. Like most places the snow is great there at the moment. If you are experienced it may not be enough for you tho. We are just beginners so it was perfecto for us. We literally had arguments on whether to return again this year but we finally agreed to try Livigno - we're off on 17th so counting the days! Vallnord is the name of the combined area - some of our friends went to nearby Arcalis a few days which was apparently really really nice altho I think only reachable by road but if I remember there might be a bus from Arinsal in the mornings. You can get to nearby Pal by cable car also so that gives you some variety. Your pass covers all these areas.

Have a fantastic time Very Happy
