Just got the info through from the chalet co for our trip at the end of Jan, and it includes the following line:

And don't forget to apply for an EHIC card if you have one Speaking from our recent experience it was a relief that almost everything was covered at the French hospital, the rest is being dealt with by our insurer. The only fee I have paid was 30€ to the doctor at the bottom of the pistes.
