Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lake tahoe area lft passes - Best way to buy?

Hi Guys, We are off to Heavenly end of Feb for 2 weeks, and are looking into a deal on lift tickets. I think I am right in assuming it will be cheaper to buy before I go, right? Ideally, we would like an interchangeable 6 or 8 day pass, and would be interested to hear from anyone who has purchased anything similar! Smile

 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Personally I bought daily as I didn't want to be tied to Heavenly area and the area pass was no better value. Especially when you went to some resorts that are much cheaper...like Kirkwood, Mt Rose etc... If you can get a deal on one and are happy then go for it. I'd think of South Lake Tahoe as a base though.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Depends on what you want wink If its casinos and glitz yes, if its varied ski mountains then no. South lake gives you easy access to 3 main mountains North Lake gives you 7. Its fairly easy to drive via North Lake and South Lake and wont eat into your skiing time that much Smile

Sutts, you could get a pass for the Big 6 - although I think it covers 7 mountains now. But some of those mountains day rates are cheaper than a day cost on the pass. Also some resorts have mid week offers which make them cheaper still. Check out the resorts websites for details.
When we were there for 14 days we purchased a 6 day interchagable and paid on the gate for the rest Smile

I agree, but he is staying at South Lake Tahoe so didn't want to discuss the merits of North v's South !! I lived in Squaw Valley for 2 seasons so know the area very well. My main point was to not ski Heavenly that much and use as a base. If there haven't been regular recent big snow falls then the drive from South Lake to Squaw and Alpine is very quick via Emerald bay, however it's often closed so you have to go the whole way round the wrong way.

The to me causes a big problem when you are staying in Tahoe City and want to ski Kirwood...that then a 2 hour drive and a loss leader really.. Hence why I stay on the South Shore more often nowadays.

Also cost !!! Try finding reasonable accommodation in and around Squaw / Alpine !!!!! You can get 14 nights in South Lake Tahoe from £550 including flights per person !! If you can break £1000 i'd be suprised in Squaw. In a typical week i'd try and cover the following.

1. Heavenly
2. Kirkwood
3. Alpine
4. Squaw
5. Mt Rose
6. Kirwood again !

If two weeks then more at each and add in a few others...

Great place though Smile

Thanks guys, We have now purchased Heavenly season passes for $379, not much more than a 6 day pass. We are now free to ski Heavenly as and when we like, and then take up deals at the other resorts as required,

Regards, Sutts
