There's going to be enough base there to last the entire season even if we don't get a single flake more...epic!

WOW! rather exceptional.
Will be driving through there on Saturday permitting that they open the Italian side of the Col.

Christopher, safe journey. Having driven both sides, i'd say the Italian side is a wee bit easier!

Wow - pretty dangerous situation as people have in previous years been killed through roof collasping, roof avalanches or sliding off the roof while trying to clear the snow.

Very true. I know of a case of a man who slid off a roof just north of Oxford Street in London, while clearing thick snow from the top of a house in Cavendish Square, in pre-Victorian times. He was impaled on railings and died at Middlesex Hospital.
A remarkable photo though. Outstanding. Like a painting.

WOW. For me what makes the photo special are the bods on the roof tops clearing snow. The bods lend scale to the scene..........must be at least 5 foot of snow at resort level

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

shoogly, We've driven the Col on about 5 holidays in summer, but not in winter. So I know it prettty well.
It is an easier gradient, with less sharp hairpin bends and a lot of it is in tunnels. However this is all irrelevant when there is an avalanche risk on the Italian side.
The descent will be taken with great care I can assure. Although thank you
Serre Che here we come!
