Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snow Predictions

Just wanting to ask all you wise/experienced snowheads, roughly how reliable are long term weather forecasts for the alps? I've been seeing all these evil predictions about how winter will end in February because of superwarmth, which I obviously don't want to happen. I'm not too sure about January, some people seem to be forecasting lots of cold and snow, while others are forecasting about average and dry (at least it won't be warm, unlike last year.)

Please help end my pain, i went to Schladming at the end of last Feb, and everything was melting, and typically it started snowing again right after I left...

Herr Hefski,

It will be amazing, the best season ever 10cms of snow overnight every night and clear blue skies with the season ending at the end of June

OR

It will be rubbish the worst season ever, snow will melt before xmas and even in Val Thorens there won't be enough snow for 1/2 term let alone the EOSB

Reality will be somewhere between the two and IMHO the long-term guesses are just guesses. If you've already booked then good on you, relax and enjoy whatever turns up. If you haven't booked then keep an eye on the weather threads on here and then whenever it looks like good conditions for resort x, then book away and get on the plane the following day wink

May your pistes always be white!
