a mate of mine used to ski in a soft-shell with just a yellow cycling jacket over the top with reflective bits. Worked for him and v. easy to see him on the slopes...

It may be garish, but . . .
A breathable shell jacket, nicely put together by HH with all the pockets and zips you want along with the ability to zip in a standard HH liner . . . all for 17£ (reduced from 29).
And let's not forget that my current stomping ground is not earth-tone colour (color) friendly . . . the hunter's 'coon-dog has cognitive reasoning power than the goober behind the gun . . . besides, It'll make it easier to find my body after the avalanche.
