Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

kermit,

He was lucky not to have been trashed on the rocks!

It shows that even such a small "power kite" can develop a lot of lift.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Covered elsewhere on here, but it does look like a barmy place to be doing that activity.

Frosty the Snowman,

Thinking about your comment you're right. The point of having the kite is so that you can travel on flat ground or open ground with a small gradient. I don't think it is suitable in mountains with steeper gradients and narrow gullies.

He's hooked in via a harness so didnt have the option of letting go. You can pull a safety to release the kite but by the time he realised he wasnt coming back down in a hurry he no longer had that option... just had to hold on and enjoy the ride. Theres another video that does the rounds in kitesurfing circles whenever lofting is talked about...

My husband has alot of power kites and I remember once him asking me to just hang onto the kite while I pop back to the car for something and a few minutes later I had been lifted into the air about 20ft and then dumped into a pile of sand (which fortunately didn't hurt)

Saw some people snow kiting in serre chevalier about 5 years ago on a big fairly flat field and it looked great, but have never got around to trying it. Maybe someday

Libertine,

Also gave up kite buggying after a serious thud in the sand. Ended up with concusion. Not long after that I saw the Irish Champion take a thud that ended in 2 broken wrists and a broken ankle.

Kiteing looks cool, but generally results in injury. The wind is a powerful force.

You can hear the wind noise in the video so there must have been a good breeze, he was nuts given the weather to try kiteboarding in such a small and rocky area, I'm glad he came down without injury, but that doesn't make him any less stupid Shocked

 You know it makes sense.

I hate the way in the description it describes him as refusing to let go. This guy is a pro rider for f-one and the footage is apparently quite old and he was one of the people that has pushed snow kiting to what it is today.
