Now that the gilets are here and the challenge is on and limbs are limbering up in preparation for the season AND we are currently being subjected to tortuous photos of copious amount of snow someone suggested that we have a thread to post dates for those of us in paradiski this season - where and when with the hope of meeting up with our cool gilets.... or at least spotting each other from the chair lift.
so I shall start
Where? MONTALBERT
When? Dec 19th to jan 4th
Jan 24th to Feb 1st
March 6th to 15th
April 9th to 19th

I might be in Plan Peisey for erm most of the season apart from the odd minor sejour elsewhere, like a clinic in cham...
Feel free to PM me if you'd like to meet up for an vin chaud or a ski/board. I should have reduced my trip times for the M-V challenge by the end of Jan!

With this number of players, we're going to need a regular 'weekly?' lunch or apres stop on either side of the VE. Come and meet some fellow snowheads if you like or travelling in a small group. If you're in lessons / doing the north face or otherwise family occupied then nae bother?
Suggestions?

13 to 17th March... annual trip with the chaps... So plenty of time to see the times being posted and see if we do better!
Tried to book up with the family as well for Feb, but ended up in Courchevel instead.... oh well! )

One can never take these things too seriously!! I may be restricted on the times I can take "The Challenge" due to baby sitters for our 2 year old but am aiming at least once a trip with time improvements each time. Was discussing it last night with friends who are out with us over xmas.

i like the fact that peisei has a lot of ski-in/out chalets are reasonable prices. but is it really that connected to les arcs? is it easy to get to the nice slopes of les arcs? does peisei itlsef has nice slopes? I enjoy long blues and reds and my level is intermediate

snowforever, Peisey is seamlessly connected to the rest of Les Arcs. It is just one single ski domain. I ski there a lot and I don't actually know which is technically the Peisey bit and which is the Les Arcs bit.

It'll be perfect for you - there's lots of long blues and reds around Peisey - largely why I'm heading there for a seson to improve my skiing. The reds down through the trees can be absolutely fabulous. As Rob@Rar says it's not like there's a line on the snow between les arcs and peisey-vallandry. From Peisey itself its one or maybe 2 lifts to get into Les Arcs 1800 itself.

Just one, then you can ski to the centre of Arc 1800. Just two lifts would take you into the Arc 2000 bowl.

snowforever, It's lurrvvvlyyy - lots of blues and reds from the top of the Vallandry or Peisey lifts back to village - my kids love them and my parents never bother to go to Les Arcs as they are happy around Vallandry. One lift and can ski down to 1800 as others have said, or two and over the back all the way down to 1950.

I'd be surprise if there wasn't somewhere open in BP as it's one of the larger 'villages', and the 13th is opening day. There's a good list of shops here - http://www.la-plagne.com/index.php?aid=325&dest=12
if that fails then next stop should be plagne bellecote as the road upto BP goes past bellecote, and it's a both ski and lift linked - so if there are any changes required it should be very straigthforward, even at apres time. If that fails then they'll definately be somewhere open in plagne centre, but I appreciate it might not be that easy to get down there without skis, and not clear from your post whether you will have cars
If you're travelling with a tour operator (TO in snowheads-speak) then they should sort it out for you. If you're travelling independently then I'd suggest emailling the tourist office - infos@la-plagne.com in english and they should be able to advise.
