Long time back, but Zum Sternen was unpretentious comfortable and had decent food.

I stayed at the Sonne last winter - part of a SCGB Freshtracks package so don't know how economical it will work out booking direct.
If you're wanting real cheap, young and lively then this is probably not the place. Solid 3* hotel, cosy, traditional Swiss gemutlich, I enjoyed the stay and it made a change from the low rent gaffs I usually end up in  Halbpension is worth the extra as the restaurant food is good.

another recommendation for the Sonne. i went there very late season and we were the only group there. the lady who runs it is a star!

Hotel Drei Könige. I liked it very much on a one-night stay a few years back. If by 'good value' you actually mean 'cheap', it may not suit you, but I don't remember it a s extravagantly expensive.
