I use Direct Travel. There annual policy covers everything I want ski-wise, and seemed a reasonable price.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

This gets covered very regualrly...have you tried the search.
A number of the 'high street' policies don't cover off-piste at all. Amongst the faves for people on here are skiclub, dogtag and snowcard. BMC if you're into the mountains generally...
IMHO there's a definite 'get what you pay for with insurance', but luckily I haven't had to claim on a winter sports policy.

I've been looking at my options.
If I go away and work for the season I will have to rejoin the SCGB and use their insurance.
Otherwise I will be using Direct Travel annual multi trip because their definition of off piste doesn't appear to be as limited as other policies.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I get annual travel insurance with my bank account which includes 30-days winter sports cover. It seems pretty much the same as most non-specialist insurance policies and does cover off-piste (with a guided group). However, what it does not cover, and I have a particular problem finding this, is cover for loss of earnings if one has an accident skiing and cannot work for any length of time. I'm not self-employed but my employers only provide a basic level of sickness pay which does not include accidents. I have income protection insurance to cover my mortgage and outgoings in the event of accident or sickness, but of course that does not include skiing accidents...
I did find a specialist insurer who provide personal accident cover to an appropriate level, but they wouldn't insure me as I am a cancer patient...
Insurance companies. Grrr!!

Lloyds policy with their Premium account is really good and covers OHs even whhen not travelling with you. It also covers world winter sports including getting heli'd out.
I don't know of any travel policies that cover loss of earnings.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

bar shaker, is the premium version better than the platinum one? the winter sports cover in the platinum version only covers equipment up to around £400 and doesn't cover off piste at all. according to a lloyds insurance bod, they class off piste as being anything outside of a marked run.

I've just taken out Direct Travel Wintersports Insurance. It is multi trip World Wide with wintersports.
It covers off piste, the only caveat is in the US if you are outside the boundaries you have to be with a qualified guide.
Cost £71.25.
