The saison has been started.
This Sunday was indeed sunny, but very cold.
There snow and 4 major lifts are operational : funtitel Peclet, TS Plein Sud, TS Cascades and TS Portette.
The piste are fairly good with some patches of ice on the steeper parts of slopes.

About 20-30 cm of fresh snow. Perfect conditions on the pistes. Little less cold then yesterday. Very few people. The piste for your own.

Strong wind and storm, all snow has been blown away to certain places where we do not ski at all and where the bouquetins live.

Just like yesterday a lot of high winds. Clouds around the summits. No sun and a very low windchillfactor

The first real winter month has started with a bleak, dark grey day. Little visibility, complete day light snow fall at a temperature of - 6 degrees. At the end of the day the snow fall stopped. Approximately 10 cm of snow have been fallen.

They're amazing! I didn't know that VT could be so 'picturesque'. Imagine what could be done with more sympathetic subject matter, I particularly like the 'warm glow' effects on the wooden buildings at the end of the Saturday 22/11 set, how did you acheive that?

These are so-called HDR pictures. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. It is a technic where three images (normal, under and over exposed) of the same scene are blended. This can be done with the software of Photomatix.

Thin scattered clouds above 4000 meters. Less wind and higher temperatures on 3000 meter.
The number of skiers and boarder is increasing every day.
The 5 mainlifts Péclet , La Moutière, Plein Sud, Cascade en Portette and there pistes are open.
The snowforcast for the following days is not impressive : 10-20 cm

Mostly cloudy during the whole day. Little sunshine between 15.00 and 16.00. It started snowing at 16.30. Temperature is rising.
Very quiet on the pistes. Some stones are coming on the pistes.

Last night brought us 30 cm fresh snow. The whole day there were light snowfalls. A short period with sun occured during midday.
At the end of the day the snowfall stopped. To fully enjoy the fresh powder was impossible due to the bad weather.

Again we have fresh snow! Twenty centimeters during last night. The whole day it was snowing. In the afternoon the wind increased from the north. Poor visibility and temperature about -5 degrees. Les Menuires was open with five lifts for the first time in the new season.

123_456, like the one of Chalet des Deux Lacs, HDR again? Happy memories of afternoon hot chocolate in front of the blazing fire when I visited in 2005.
