Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Heiligenblut (Großglockner)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I've been hearing some good things about Heiligenblut (Großglockner).

Has anyone been there that could tell me a little about the:
off-piste options?
the town - small, quite, but fun?
can you link up with some of the other ski areas near mallnitz (ankogel and Mölltaler Gletscher?) by bus or train?

thanks,

matt

asland,

Its a small place set right under the grossglockner mountain, pretty, quite a few restaurants but not many bars. The ski area is set over 3 mountains going up to 2900m so the area has a big verticle. As its pretty high for Austria it has a generally good snow record. Only about 60k of pistes but feels larger. As for the off piste there is a fair bit and a couple of ski routes, get a guide to get the most out of it. Ankogel and Molltal Glacier are a 30-40 min drive, I think there might be a bus but not sure, you can also get down the the lienzer dolomite area in 40 mins. Nassfeld the largest area in Carinthia is about 90min drive. Hope thats of use.
