Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Val d Isere

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all

I have a plan to Val d Isere in Jan 09. I have booked resort there and found the ways to there by train, bus and taxi. The best convenience of going there from Geneve should take a taxi by sharing with our group of 4 ppls. However, the taxi company offers me at over Eur three hundreds and something from Geneve to Val d Isere. I feel it is very expensive comparing with England taxi for taking 2 and half hours long distances.

So, anyone can advise me about taxi fare that can I pay around Eur 150 to 200 to take this journey. If possible, and If you have any taxi drive phone number, please give it to me by PM. So, I can contact him before I go.

Thanks

Hi there. The best way to get to Val is by the bus that runs hourly fron Geneve Airport. Takes about 3.5hrs and it is only Eur85 return.
The bus stops frequently in Val, so you will be able to get off close to your accomodation.
It will cost you roughly £200 for a weeks car hire.
Its a captive market mate for the Taxis going to the mountains.
If you don't want to pay the Taxi price then there are no similar facilities for you to use.
Hope this helps.

thank you for your advice and it is a good idea for getting bus. however, i have checked the bus fare is 105 euro for return journey on some websites. The 85 euro bus I need to buy the ticket on bus or by advance booking. please give me more info regarding the website or phone no. if not convenience post here, pls pm me.

If you're coming from Hong Kong, are you really concerned about 20 euros??!!

If you are, I'd suggest that you'd be better off going elsewhere - Val D'Isere is at the top end of prices in the whole of the Alps (for absolutely everything) Sad

do you think about that your luxury that will rise up the consumption there. if you really don't care the differences why don't donate that money to the emerging countries in order to help for foods, education and ways for living.

lastly, thank you for your sharing on here

ftkl, Have a great time - you'll love Val d'Isere, and it is one of very few resorts worth travelling half way around the world for, despite many people's reservations wink
