Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

andybabes, When do you want to go? We've got some availability in Les Coches in December where you can stay 3, 6 or 9 nights. We open there on 12th December and 3 days costs £99 - £139 (with a supplement for weekends). We do £12.50 transfers from Geneva, and although we don't have single rooms if you are willing to share we won't charge a supplement (unless you want single occupancy).

We've also got some limited space in Italy over Christmas in the Dolomites, we have a couple of single rooms there so no supplement to pay again and we offer ski hosting so there's always people to ski/board with and it's informal and friendly.

You can PM or email me at mountain.sun@virgin.net

Happy hunting!

andybabes,

Have a look at Active-Outdoors (UCPA).
UCPA is a sporting holiday organisation in France, very well established with a good reputation and perfect for solo travellers. I have very happily used them twice before, although not for skiing/boarding.

They seem to offer Tignes in December for £404 (incl accomodation, meals, liftpass, equipment) and you can also get coach travel for £140....
Once there it is easy to meet people and get into a group.

andybabes,
we are in val thorens 13th - 20th december, no room at the inn i'm afraid, however we are a group of 2 dads (boarders aged 45 + 4Cool and our 3 lads, 15, 16, 17. we would be more than happy to have some like minded and aged company on and off the piste so if you can get there let me know. Madeye-Smiley
for your ref, last year we paid £150 each for roughly the same week for flights, car hire and accommodation (group of 5) so cheap as chips as they say wink

andybabes, there's a skiing 'singles section' on the neilson forum - not in terms of 'coupling up' / 'copping off' but in terms of putting random people together into groups to ski. Might be worth having a look.

In terms of mountain sun's deal the there's a bunch of snowheads hanging around paradiski from around 20th Dec (if not before) but the vanoise express (les arcs / la plagne link) doesn't open until 20th Dec - so abillity to switch to the other resort is limited. On the 20th a bunch of us are going for the montalbert villaroger challenge (or the other way rond) - see my sig for more details.

If you were out later then I'd be happy to come over for a day and ride with you - I like all colours of pistes, and some non-pisted stuff too.

Kruisler, Kruisler, just read your post and flew to the recommended website - but where is this fabulous offer for £404 in Tignes???? When I add accommodation to the £245 instruction, I end up with over £600 w/o flight! Am I looking in the wrong place?
Please help a helpless web surfer...

chri,

I had a quick look and I think what's happening is you're trying to book an "Inspired to Ski" course, i.e. via UCPA but not run by them so more expensive. If you choose a UCPA course (or no instruction) it is a lot cheaper and you get the sort of price I mentionned above, e.g. £421 in Tignes 13 dec. ( 7 days accom/meals/equipment/half time instruction) w/o travel (add £140 for coach).

The UCPA age limit is something to do with their french government subsidy - its a chairty that promotes outdoor sports to french 'young' adults to do fit stuff - give the Action-Outdoors guys a call and they'll try to sort something out for you. It isn't unusual for them to bend the rules especially if it isn't in one of their very busy weeks like Xmas and new year.
