Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I'll be travelling with Scandinavian airlines in Jan, and wondered if anyone had experience of taking skis/boards with them.

They seem to want to charge £15 each way to pre-book skis - but I'm wondering if it's worth just turning-up and smiling sweetly at the check-in staff Puzzled

We're travelling with them in March & are wondering the same thing Toofy Grin

Having said that, we're well used to £33 return with easyjet so might just bite the bullet & ring them up to book the skis on. It's still a lot cheaper than ski hire (especially when squeezing 2 pairs into one ski bag).

Meanwhile, since booking I've heard that SAS CHARGE FOR FOOD ON THE PLANE Shocked !!! - but I don't know how true that is. However, if it's true - and as we've paid an absolutely extortionate price to fly to Kiruna via Stockholm - I am not best pleased.....Fair enough when you book with a budget airline but a bit of a cheek in my book when you're booking with a national carrier.

That's what I thought ... I just wondered if there's a sneaky way of getting around the whole ski carriage thing.

Unfortunately, I don't know about the skis. However, I'm afraid you're right about the food. On my last SAS flight from Zurich to Copenhagen, there was nothing free, not even a glass of water.

On the other hand, they have good food for sale and it's reasonably priced IMO.
