The heavy snowfall across northern Scotland this week has raised hopes that Lecht may open for skiing this weekend. It won’t be the first time that Lecht has opened at the end of October. At the moment, all the runs have snow cover, but more is needed to build up the base before the centre can open. erm, it would be opening at the start of November if it opens this weekend.

Think that's why they are hellbent on opening on Friday isn't it  One up on Cairngorm who seem to be looking for excuses not to open.

ahhh, for some of us the weekend starts on Saturday. Are the scots on a 4 day week now?

Well I see what appears to be people in what appears to be a tow next to what appears to be a skislope on the webcam, so I guess the Lecht made it. Congratulations to them!

The Lecht did indeed make it. Great surface conditions and good cover on the open runs, with regular top ups through the day mixed up with some good sunny spells making for a memorable October opening day.

Fantastic. Of the two times I have skied The Lecht, it never looked as good as that!!!!

Lecht was open for skiing today, more limited than a few weeks ago, but still  sadly couldnt make it today but will get over there again soon
