JT, think the village will be green again by Monday, big Foehn coming over the weekend. Hopefully a nice freeze-thaw cycle with not too much loss up high. With any luck it could be the start of a good base.

horizon, not low down, no. There's a big snow eating Foehn coming this weekend. The glaciers should still be good and I would expect that there will still be a net gain above 2000m, but I don't expect much non-glacial skiing to be open then.

There is still snow today at altitude in the Dolomites, it may linger as a base now it's turned a bit colder.
Here's the Cinque Torri (Five Towers) area (approx. 2200m) above Cortina D'Ampezzo, notice the snow cannon at the ready:

I think the Valais has had a net gain above 2000m and will be amazing (for early Nov) above 2500, see Findeln above.
