I noticed this very badly translated news story on the La Thuile website. Anybody got any idea where this new lift will be or got a better translation?

The historic area on: setback and is in the wind!
From the early days of the season, will operate the new chairlift to four seats sets called "Maison Blanche". This plant reopens its doors to a part of the area of La Thuile in the past already exploited with the same name as the ski lift is completely sheltered from wind and accessible to all types of skiers. The chairlift serves tracks entirely artificial snow, who by 1652 mt. fall between forests of fir and larch, directly in front of Planibel.
The functional recovery and expansion of existing slopes historically, that converge directly into the departure cableway is exciting because it allows the prospect of further qualify and improve the performance of front-neige, also create an interesting alternative skiing just in contact with 'Receptive residential area of La Thuile. |

Bit difficult to work out what any of that means. Usually the WTSS book/website has a fair bit of info on new runs and lifts. I'm skiing in Courmayeur in March and hoping for a day trip to La Thuile (plus Pila and Chamonix) all on the same lift pass...

The lift company in la thuile likes to keep things secret........no idea why, but they always have done, any new lifts in la thuile have never appeared in WTSS new developments bit until the year after.
Maison Blanche is listed on the lift opening / closing screen, so presume it exists. They have also opened a run number 4, which must be in the forest, same area as blacks 2, 3 and 5. One of the limitations/ advantages of la thuile in snowy weather was you could only really use the blacks down through the forest. This must be a new lift in front of planibel area (the main base) ( as the text states) up to 1652 m, planibel is at 1400m and les suches is at 2200, so it can't go very far up? but must make it better for intermediates/ beginners etc in snowy weather

It says something like...
Maison Blanche chairlift. New for 2008/2009
Work will soon start on the new four-man chair from la Thuile to Maison Blanche. The base station will be built near the current Bosco Express chair. The top station will be built level with Maison Blanche and the course will run parallel to the Bosco Express chair. This new installation, which replaces the old chair of 1967, dismantled in 1980, will serve the new bosco piste.

stevew, The new lift will be open for the new season (open 29/11/0, it runs alongside the Bosco Express opposite the Planibel complex up to 1600+ metres, there used to be an old lift at this location. There will be 3 new pistes through the trees as a result. The lift company say they're also re-opening pista 4 but I've always skied that run, I just never realised it was closed! They're also improving pista 3- Francis Berthoud a black with a 78% pitch to bring it up to FIS standard so they hold downhills there. there's a Europa Cup race scheduled for Jan 2009.

New from the La Thuile site:
An old area within the ski domain: sheltered from the wind!!!
From the beginning of the season (from Christmas Holidays), a new four person chairlift called “Maison Blanche” will be operational. This installation reopens the way to an area of La Thuile, that in the past was served by a ski lift of the same name, is completely sheltered from the wind and is accessible to all types of skiers. The new chairlift will serve an area where the runs will be completely covered with artificial snow, descend from 1652m, through a forest of firs and larches, directly in front of the Planibel complex. The recovery and implementation of this historical area with its existing runs that converge directly in the area adjacent to the cable-car departure point, is exciting as it allows for the functional development of the front-neige, in addition it is creating an interesting skiing alternative that remains in contact with residential La Thuile.
No track 3 Franco Berthod
During the summer extensive work has taken place in order to remodel, enlarge and modernize the legendary Franco Berthod Piste 3, in order to bring it up to the required international standards of safety that allows World/Europa Cup Alpine Ski events to take place, without taking away the technical and touristic aspects so much loved by all skiers.
La Thuile and the World Cup Alpine Skiing: Men's Downhill
La Thuile has applied to host a World Cup Alpine Skiing downhill race, on the famous run No.3 Franco Berthod for the period 2008 – 2011.
Run No 4 - The Tour
This much loved and interesting run will be reopened, thanks to the placement of several gaz-ex, predisposed to provide advance and safe snow clearance along this historic and extremely charming run.
Increasing safety and comfort on the runs:
Thanks to the work carried out during the summer, the slopes are continually being remodelled so as to maximize the effect of snow bashing during the winter months and make them comfortable for the skier. In particular runs No 6 - La Nouva, 8-Primavera, 11-Boulevard and 22 - Longet have seen important interventions that will allow them to be opened with just a few centimetres of snow.
Area "first curve" :
The creation of an area "first curve" dedicated to small children, has required the repositioning of the “moving carpet” and the play area in the front-neige adjacent to the main installations.
A modern ticketing system :
The company ‘Funivie Piccolo San Bernardo S.p.A’. together with the sister company of ‘La Rosière’ will adopt a new ticketing system and access control supplied by the company Skidata. Providing greater convenience for skiers to access the installations and an improved system for the advance purchase of ski passes. This will allow you to purchase, as in past seasons, ski-passes via internet, with text messages and teleskipass, thus avoiding the ticket office wait. For info: www.lathuile.net.
The Rosière: a new artificial snow installations
During the summer artificial snow making facilities have been expanded to provide total cover of the Tetras,Gelinotte and Renard pistes, thus ensuring optimum snow down to the starting point of the Roches Noires Express and Eucherets Express chairlifts.
Good news on piste 4, La Tour as I have NEVER seen this open.
