Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Interesting that La Rosiere appears to be so established that there are 'alternatives' to it. When did that happen ?

Mainstream press ski resort articles are uniformly useless rubbish,

Revelstoke last year had 2 lifts - I could have quite happily spent a season there

paulio, Agreed. Don't think any of that was particularly helpful/informative. A lot of it was common sense.

Lou, It depends on where those lifts take you. La Ros is a lovely place to spend a week or two, but if it didn't have the link to Italy it would not be as popular as it is. As fatbob, points out, it's not the number of lifts, it's what the mountain gifts you when you get to the top Toofy Grin

I hear what you're saying! But was thinking more of the resort Pyha that they mention, which perhaps gave the impression that you would want to do something apart from ski.
Looks like a lovely place to sample the whole Lapland experience but 4 'easy' runs, 4 intermediate runs and 2 difficult could be a bit boring for a week.

I wasn't impressed with the article either btw, bit preachy and think that snowHead 's could have done it much better.

I am looking forward to our first visit to La Ros in April though Very Happy

Loved the comment about driving costing £600-750 London-VdI return in a "family saloon" Shocked I guess that means crossing by yacht then driving in a Rolls Royce Phantom picking up a couple of speeding tickets on the way Confused Surprised to see Peter Hardy put his name to something so bad.

Plake, The average cost per mile most mid sized cars approx 40-50p. Some of this is not marginal, but a huge chunk (petrol/depreciation/maintenance/tyres) is genuinely linked to additional mileage. 15p per mile petrol 10p per mile depreciation, 5p per mile tyres and maintenance would be pretty accurate. 680 miles on roads each way gives you £410 at 30p per mile before you factor in tolls and ferries. I think they have it about right.

stoatsbrother, Doesnt include the cost of a long boring journey untill you can see the mountains. I'm not a fan of car journies longer than 2 hours.
