Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Well I just booked my first ski trip with my Uni to VT at the start of this coming season and I'm buzzing about skiing! snowHead

I think I can afford some new skis, but I doubt it. My movments are looking slightly worn after the season in Tignes but I'm sure I can crack a few weeks outa them because I love them.

Pretty much what I want is something bit more hardcore, very much powder based.

Something like 110+ at the waist, large radius and over 190cm (I like my skis long), and they really have to enjoy speed.

I've got a few ideas but I'd quite like to ski them first and don't know quite how I can manage that. Sad

if you like movements, have a look at the big goliaths 191 long and 108 wide, they're belters and you may still get a deal on previous models graphics

They will rip massive turns.....

They will get you back to a lift. I don't think you should be worrying about how they would handle on piste.

Apparently this years are a bit more "user friendly", your call, still insanely stiff.

These guys will be on XXL's I would imagine.

arv, that video is incredible. I need to get to Canada this season..

I have free accom in Whistler and Fernie from friends so I've got no excuse really..

Recon there is anywhere in the 3 Valleys where I could get my hands on a pair of those Dynas for a try?

Spikyhedgehog, Not sure, I haven't skied in Yoorup for a few years. Look into the DP's as well as Brian says-I nearly bought a pair but they would have probably kicked my light weight ass.

It doesn't have a real twin on it does it? I think the shorter one would be far more suitable for moi.

Nahh. Neither do the squads or the XXL's.

XXLs are fine on piste except moguls. if you want to carve, you better be ready to go FAST

they are actually less stiff than Legend Pros, particularly in the tips. I have 186LPs and 194 XXLs. you could almost call the XXLs playful in comparison with the LPs, although the XXLs still RIP. I was a bit intimidated by the XXLs after picking them up cheap on SteepandCheap but once i finally sacked up and skied them they were a lot of fun

by all accounts the squads are another level of burliness

you will almost certainly be able to get LPs to try out; XXLs are a bit more niche so that might be more of a problem

the video predates the XXL as a commercially available ski - most of the riders LOOK like they are on LPs (from the graphics)

That said, there were various team-only super-secret iterations of the BIG/LP which morphed into the ski we now call the XXL

i am not a Dynanerd... oh no... Cool

Spikyhedgehog,

Ignore Brian at your peril. The DP Pros are the berries. Only thing is they have just brought out the DP Pro Plus - mine arrive next week. I like the DP Pros so much I have two pairs - 201cm and 193cm.

Mind you, they are not for the faint-hearted, so perhaps stick to something slightly more camp!! Like a twin tip...

Powderhound, sounds good as well!

Little bit thin though, I guess when you are properly charging it doesn't make much difference. They will definitely be put on my trial list.

Cheers.
