Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New years 08/09 romantic gettaway

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi there, my boyfriend and I are looking to go away right after christmas and come back after new years, so spend new years eve there. We're looking for something chilled out and quite romantic, i.e, wood log cabin, raging fire and hot chocolate, but with somewhere really cool to go on new years eve (we're both early 20's)... and great skiing/ boarding of course a must (we're both intermediate)!! We've never booked our own ski holidays before and are not sure where to start!! we were thinking of Whistler in Canada, but are also quite taken with the idea of Austria or somewhere closer to home in Europe.
Any ideas of what mountain and what resort can offer all this would be absolutely amazing!!
Thanks!!!

lhaslam, welcome to Snow Heads snowHead You will find that dates on offer, wherever you want to go, will be 27/12 - 3/1/09 (or 28/12 - 4/1), to take in New Year, be prepared to book a full Saturday - Saturday or Sunday-Sunday week. There are plenty of resorts that could offer you most of what you want, but do you know if you are looking for a catered chalet shared with others, or a self catered apartment on your own, which may not have the log fire etc ambience you are looking for Puzzled I don't ski at NY as it's a bit too busy for my tastes Very Happy but sure others will be along with some ideas for you

Plenty of chocolate and wood cabins in Switzerland, maybe places like Wengen, Zermatt and St Moritz would suit. In Austria places such as Kitzbühel or Lech are worth considering.

lhaslam, Welcome to snowHead

If you where going as far as Canada Lake Louise/ Banff would be Ideal for the romance side and with plenty of ski choice.

Switzerland- Zermatt,St Moritz and probably most of the resorts in the country

Austria Zell am Zee, Lech and a few of the smaller resorts are quite nice.

Italy Maddona del campino, Cortina

France Puzzled Puzzled Puzzled Puzzled Puzzled Puzzled Puzzled They all look like 70's office blocks Twisted Evil

Whistler is a cluster**** on New Year's for the tourist - expect to pay up to $150 a head for dinner & ent if you can book somewhere. Massive police presence enforcing dry zone on the streets, mobs of yoof up from Vancouver. Alternatively pizza delivery and an early night and enjoy the uncrowded slopes the next day.
