Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Meribel village

Thinking of staying in the mgm place in meribel village end of march. We will have 2 non skiers with us, is there a bus service to the main meribel bit, or is it rather isolated? I don't think they want to do very much other than wander about and look at shops Puzzled

There is also a friend who wants to come as well, but has a lack of cash! and wants their own place.....don't ask! is there anywhere else to stay in meribel village, ie. a studio type thing?

carroz, i stayed in the MGM a few years back, couple things if possible get in the main building as you can then use the pool (which is very very nice) without having to go outside. Parking was pretty poor on the roads and very crowded so pop for the underground parking if you have a car.

The bus is directly outside the apartment and links to meribel are pretty good, you can also get to la tania or les allues from village by bus. an old timetable is here http://www.pleva.net/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/resortbustimetable06_07.pdf

Not much in village but it has the best bakery in the the Valley and the Lodge is a good small pub with top food.

there are studios for rent try amsrentals.com or merinet.com

There is plenty for non-skiers to do in the valley, activities include walking on specially prepared trails, snow shoe walks, husky-sledding, indoor-climbing, paragliding, balloon and light-aircraft flights, bowling, sledding, swimming, ice-skating, indoor climbing and fitness classes. Less active entertainment includes the cinema (there are films in English most weeks), visiting the beauty centres, taking a bus to the nearby town of Moutiers to visit the Tuesday outdoor market, taking the cable-cars to mountain restaurants and view points or over to the resort of Courchevel, or some serious shopping in the boutiques.
The majority of Meribel’s shops are found in the centre of town in the various arcaded ‘galleries’ and in Mottaret the shops are concentrated in the resort centre near the Tourist Office. But the other districts in Méribel all offer a variety of shops and are worth exploring, which can easily be done by using the free bus service. Although sports shops tend to dominate, there are also newsagents, chemists, opticians, photography shops, hardware stores and grocers. Wonderful local produce can be found in several specialist foodstores as well as in the supermarkets. On Tuesdays and Fridays in winter there is a small market on the Route de la Chaudanne in Méribel centre, offering local produce, clothing, jewellery, sweets and gadgets. And visit Méribel’s main bakery, les Glaciers, offers mouth-watering chocolates, cakes and patisseries to take home or eat at the upstairs tearooms.

Plus a taxi isnt that much after dicks tea bar or whatever late night drinking venue, or as i have done a few times just thumb it quite a few people are up for giving hickers a lift.

worst thing about meribel village is the mega slow chairlift out of the bottom up to the altiport. honestly it could not be any slower.
