Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

2nd day of the English ski season

Just got back from Raise and a great day skiing in the Lake District. Very Happy
I missed the first day of the season back in November so was determined not to miss today.

Yesterdays heavy showers deposited quite a depth of snow across northern England and Southern Scotland, above about 2,200'.

The weather first thing this morning was spectacular. The Eden Valley had a cloud inversion with blue skies over the Lake District and North Pennines.

Once we'd de-iced the tow hangers and started the tow the skiing conditions just got better and better with the light traffic. Both runs were complete although a little thin and rocky in places. Despite only 10 people turning up we had a wide range of disciplines including a telemarker, a snowboarder, 3 ski mountaineers, two alpine skiers, a monoboarder and a telemarker who arrived with a kite-ski and a pet dog ! All en Valley had a cloud inversion with blue skies over the Lake District and North Pennines.

All we were missing was a snowblader.

Everyone had a great time and then it was down to the pub in Glenridding for some Apres.

I've posted several pictures over on Winterhighland.com at:

Check the last post.

I Just hope that some of the snow lasts over the next 24hr mild spell. Puzzled

Brilliant, Peter. These people sound like true snowHeads! Have they got computers?
Sounds like you're in for a white Christmas!

Very Inspiring.

I'm preying that the Snow Gods will give N.I. a good dump as forecast so I can get the planks out here on the farm. Tractor is at the ready as our very own Pistebasher!

 You know it makes sense.

Its an hours hike with carrying skis and boots to the ski area and tows. You need to be experienced in winter mountain walking before attempting it and would need to know the area well.
