Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

i've read quite a lot on flex but am still wondering if a stiff boot (say 100+) is best for skiing bumps, powder & crud?
I know that's a big question, so generalisations welcome wink

as an instructor i spend a lot of time teaching snow-plows.. i'm thinking this might get uncomfortable in stiff boots. But then.. in between lessons..... Razz snowHead

"(say 100+) " is meaningless without stating the manufacturer, as there is NO standardisation between them.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I wouldn't have thought so, not for moguls anyway, you need to flex at the ankles a bit for bumps. If you were a real fat-lad maybe, but 12 stone don't sound too porky!

take the point about ankle flex, but how about faster turn initiation?

generaly speaking because we know there are no real standards as regards manufacturers flex indexes, what would you call a stiff boot? E.g. in salomon? Atomic?

riverwhy, Read what SMALLZOOKEPER wrote, flex measurements have been standardized for several years now.

The stiffest boots that anyone I know uses are 160 flex.

riverwhy, Its all about choice and comfort I have flex 120 boots and I just teach my classes wiht the buckles undone and I ski everything in them but I have legs like tree trunks so it really is not a problem.

You will know from your current boots what you need and what type of flex you can work comfortably
