Although the summer has been wet and miserable there was a distinct autumnal feeling on the golf course this morning.

I keep a close eye on the Gulf Stream as it dictates our Coasteering season, based on the state of the Gulf Stream this year I would think we are in for a colder dryer winter, certainly in the UK.
The GS was about 2 weeks late this year, compared to last year, and it travelled north very quickly bringing slightly warmer seas by about 1c, it also pushed much further north in to Greenland than usual. This has had a dramatic effect on permanent ice pack melt this year, and as such there has been a lot more desalination and now the GS is moving south about 3 weeks early!
The GS is linked to El Nino which has a major play on our weather.
For all the weather geeks out there, the place for you is http://www.ukweatherworld.co.uk/

Yes sure, but on the glaciers some of it often stays. It's a signal that the usual tease cycle of showing a bit then taking it away or maybe leaving a bit has started. It only takes a good dump on the glacier and it's worth a 4 hour drive for fresh tracks. Bring it on.

Is Coasteering jumping off cliffs and scrambling around the shoreline? How does the Gulf Stream effect this?
